Summary

The CPG Key Account Manager drives the health and revenue of the CPG Cold Brew channel through a wide breadth of responsibilities. The account manager leads, develops, manages, and coordinates new and existing business within assigned distributors and key accounts. The account manager is responsible for driving and delivering sales and profit goals within the assigned distributor/chain/specialty grocery class of trade, managing trade budgets within guidelines, and ensuring effective promotional execution and account management, including driving category growth.

The CPG Key Account Manager will be held to monthly KPIs and targets and be required to assist with special projects as needed for the Channel, including serving as a brand ambassador at events, shows and demos, sample fulfillment, and competitive intel and analysis.

This individual will successfully create and manage projects that require cross-functional work and collaboration. They need solid analytical and critical-thinking skills to develop critical proposals, negotiate agreements, and recommend sales strategies that will have profitable results.

Essential Functions

Planning:

  • Can accurately analyze business trends in the marketplace and tie them to business needs.

  • Utilizes all appropriate resources to maximize effective and realistic planning.

  • Support achievement of objectives through sales development strategies and support

  • Able to course correct based on company business demands.

  • Monitor competitive activity in the market, including new innovation at the shelf and/or competitive pricing intel

  • Development of fact-based data analysis and presentations that will drive channel volume while growing our customer's business - focusing on increased ACV /distribution/space gains promotional and display support.

Execution:

  • Cold Brew expertise-continually developing business, trends, and products and sharing knowledge with customers to educate them on our brand.

  • Flawless communication of promotional pricing and timing.

  • Sales revenue and Trade forecasting for assigned customers.

  • Forecast revenue and trade spending (based on account and market knowledge).

  • Effectively partner with assigned teams to ensure optimal planogram production and cross-functional planning.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the key personnel at each assigned customer

  • Key account management

Administrative:

  • Strong time management skills- balancing proactive analytical work while responding to short lead time projects based on current needs.

  • Tracking and reporting of business for external/internal customers as needed.

  • Manage resources, time, and projects to maximum efficiency.

  • Manage Account-level promotional deal sheets and customer sales planners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; or equivalent work experience

  • 3-5 years experience successfully managing third-party distributors or key accounts, preferably in the beverage industry

  • Requires proficient knowledge and skills in the following areas; selling skills, achieving sales and profitability targets, analysis, planning and execution.

  • Experience using Nielsen or SPINS databases to develop category and brand analysis and recommend business building strategies

  • Specialty food, Natural and Conventional Channels experience preferred

  • Regional and National chain headquarter call experience

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work cross-functionally within Stumptown and with parent and sister companies

  • Flexible and adaptable to change

  • Ability to travel on a frequent basis (25-50% of the time)

Physical Demands
  • Standing - must be able to stand for long periods.

  • Ability to sit continuously at a computer

  • Able to lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally

Work Environment
  • Work takes place in office settings; this position is based at our HQ in Portland, Oregon and will spend, on average, half of their time working in the office and half of their time working from home.

  • Will require regular travel via car and/or airline, standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, and overnight hotel stays.

  • Ability to occasionally work outside of standard business hours on an ad-hoc basis to address urgent business needs and support retail and marketing activities on weekends and evenings.
