Software Platforms Intern

Role Summary

The software platforms team is responsible for research & development of software innovations in the current and next generation of connected and autonomous vehicles. As an intern you will be tasked with working collaboratively in a team environment to develop functional prototypes. You will learn the essential skills of turning an idea into a software product starting from ideation to system design, from development to testing, and finally into the finishing phases deployment and user verification.

Role Responsibilities

• Support of iOS and Android projects
• Development of functional prototypes for cloud & vehicle software systems
• Maintain quality gates by writing unit and integration tests
• Contribute to ideation and system design discussions
• Participate in code review and scrum meetings
• Collaborate with other engineers on system integration & deployment tasks

Qualifications, Specialized Skills, Knowledge or Other Requirements

• Compute Science Major or equivalent experience from course/project work
• Proficiency in one of the following languages: Python, Java, Go, C++, C#, Rust
• iOS and Android experience
• Basic knowledge of cloud computing
• Basic knowledge of commonly used communication and messaging protocols such as TCP/UDP, REST/HTTP, MQTT
• Ability to do independent research
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

Nice to Have

* Basic knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

* Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and others for building scalable and reliable cloud-based solutions

* Familiar in programming languages such as Swift for iOS development and Java or Kotlin for Android development

* Experience with mobile app development frameworks and tools such as Xcode for iOS and Android Studio for Android

* Comfortable with statistics

In Belmont, California, the hourly rates for this role are based on level of education:

• Undergraduate (Junior or Senior): $35/hour
• Graduate (Master's): $38/hour
• PhD: $42/hour
