Your Role on Our Team
You will join the engineering team dedicated to advancing technology for hydraulic power tools. Reporting directly to the leader of the hydraulics advanced engineering team, you will utilize tools such as Matlab/Simulink, CFD, and other numerical modeling methods to characterize and optimize hydraulic systems across various products.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Primary engineering resource for simulation and analysis in hydraulics.
- Utilize simulation and analysis tools to design and optimize pumps and valves, optimize system sizing, and maximize overall system efficiency.
- Develop custom analysis tools to predict individual part and system performance utilizing Matlab/Simulink, CFD, Excel, etc.
- Help develop custom test equipment to validate numerical models.
- Provide clear engineering information to Engineering Teams, Marketing, Project Leaders, and the Global teams to facilitate trade off conclusions.
- Utilize motor curves, pump curves, and system resistance curves to predict and optimize performance.
- Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within area of scope in the project with minimal guidance.
- Deliver complete data investigation to support design recommendations.
- Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others.
- Able to effectively integrate with advanced engineering technical team and provide technical guidance on complex hydraulics problems.
- Ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International).
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in Modeling & Simulation or similar field of study.
- Strong experience developing predictive system level math models/simulation tools in MATLAB, MathCAD, Python, or similar.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Strong understanding of high pressure hydraulic systems, including critical characteristics for component design.
- Strong experience with CFD including Ansys CFX/Fluent.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD -- ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar.
- Deep mechanical aptitude including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties, and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.
- High interest in tools of the trades.
