Job Summary:



The University of Colorado School Of Medicine has an opening for a full-time Research Services Principal Professional to serve as the Department of Orthopedics Quality Program Lead (QPL). Under the direction of the Vice Chair for Quality, Patient Safety, and Outcomes, the QPL will manage the Department's quality improvement initiatives in the areas of patient reported outcomes, patient safety, and clinical informatics.

The primary responsibilities of this position include overseeing the Department's patient reported outcomes data collection program, producing routine and ad-hoc quality-related reports for department leadership and quality stakeholders, and supporting the Department's patient safety review events and reporting processes. The QPL will interact with faculty providers, research services staff, data analysts, report developers, clinic/facility managers, administrative staff, and other quality improvement stakeholders, both virtually and in-person, to facilitate the organization, collection, validation, integration, and dissemination of orthopedic quality-related processes, policies, and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Document quality improvement data collection processes from multiple platforms and sites.
  • Draft, disseminate, and curate quality program status reports for department leadership, quality team members, and other quality program stakeholders.
  • Supervise and assign/delegate quality program tasks and responsibilities to quality program and project team members.
  • Consult with quality stakeholders on modifications to existing workflows, systems, policies, and best practices to ensure efficient and effective program operations; provide training to staff members and students/trainees when new procedures are implemented.
  • Develop reporting templates, formats, and workflows to meet Department of Orthopedics reporting specifications and cadences.
  • Generate routine statistical tests, tabulations, and visualizations from quality improvement and program evaluation project datasets.
  • Design and build quality program and project-specific measures, metrics, and protocols.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of some days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. Specific hybrid schedule will be determined by the position's supervisor.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field
  • Three (3) years data management and bioinformatic analyses experience

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field
  • Four (4) years of experience analyzing data using high-performance computing
  • Prior work experience in healthcare quality improvement or program evaluation.
  • Prior work experience with patient reported outcomes data or systems.
  • Prior work experience with patient safety review activities and protocols.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Expert knowledge of basic statistical principles relevant in medical research
  • Expert ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches
  • Prior experience working with common healthcare informatics platforms and clinical data management tools, such as EpicCare EHR, PowerBI, REDCap, and Tableau.
  • Prior knowledge of, and experience with, best practices in patient reported outcomes, patient safety reporting, and clinical informatics / clinical research data management.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office 365 and G Suite office productivity applications.
  • Prior experience with statistical analysis platforms, such as SPSS, SAS, or R.
  • Ability to work with a great attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain productive and respectful working relationships with a diverse team of colleagues, stakeholders, and business partners.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and written and oral communication skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $68,815-$87,533

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
