Responsibilities

  • The Specialty Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served in the Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiac Unit; as delegated by and under the supervision of the licensed staff.
  • The Specialty Tech will be responsible for activities of patient care which involves specialty training in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
  • Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
  • Observes patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
  • Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
  • Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
  • Additionally, this position measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines and assists patients with range of motion.
  • He/She is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross trained and cross competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function).
  • Basic Life Support

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school
  • Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care
