Accounts Receivable Specialist

American Electric Job located in Oahu, Hawaii.
Overview:

Responsible for all collection functions. This position will oversee the day to day, month end, and year end functions of accounts receivable by ensuring timeliness of invoicing, client payments, and by providing management with accurate accounts receivable reports. The incumbent of the position communicates regularly with management regarding customer payment, discrepancies, and late payments.


Primary Duties:

  • Create and submit invoices according to company practices.
  • Process invoice requests from operations.
  • Manage incoming payments and accounting receivables in accordance with financial regulations and procedures
  • Preparing bank deposits and completing ACH/EFT forms.
  • Performing account reconciliations
  • Maintaining accounts receivable files and records
  • Creating new customer accounts and collecting credit applications.
  • Create and analyze data on accounts receivable aging on a regular basis
  • Efficiently monitoring and collecting customer payments and notifying management of past-due accounts.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Handle customer inquiries for copies of invoices or purchase order number.
  • Researching and resolving account discrepancies and issues.
  • Provide all reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide documentation to assist in resolving receivable issues.
  • Provide timely updates to Accounting staff and management.
  • Proactively seek and complete training opportunities.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Provide input on process improvements.
  • Other assigned duties as necessary.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

* There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.


Education and/or Experience:

  • BA in Accounting preferred; may substitute 8 years of extensive accounting and accounts receivable experience for degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years accounts receivable experience with a minimum of 2 years in a complex and/or multi-company environment required.
  • Federal invoicing experience strongly desired.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of government contracting accounting practices (FAR and DCAA regulations) preferred.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting office practices.
  • Knowledge of Sage 300 (Sage Timberline Office) desirable.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including Word, Excel, Access, and E-mail business software.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
