How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to Senior Manager - IT Applications, Ciena's Oracle OCI team is looking for an experienced and high performing Individual with experience to lead a team. This senior resource plays a critical role in designing automation and support of the Oracle public cloud. Knowledge of other clouds services such as AWS or Azure is required as well. The candidate will help with the Ciena's strategic direction in selecting information technology architecture and techniques to design and implement complex solutions and automation to meet the business needs in the public cloud. The IT lead will perform the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks related to the support of our OCI solution. The IT lead will set the direction for the OCI team as well as work with Security, networking and the governance team to implement new solutions. We are looking for an experienced hands-on individual to make intuitive high-level decisions to improve the business experience. You will see the big picture and create architectural approaches for automation design and implementation. You will be responsible for the technical direction of projects, software structure and working with the Ciena security team to any new OCI services and processes meet Ciena security guidelines.

  • Manage / Improve tools, responsible for maintaining and upgrading tools and establishing automation. This may include integrating tools with other development technology.
  • Owning the ongoing design, implementation, and management of the OCI environment, testing and implementation of new services as they become available in the OCI environment.
  • The building, upgrading, and maintaining the performance of the API and CLI layer between tools and the OCI console Documenting and creating playbooks for administrative/support actions to be used by Production Support.
  • Developing/growing a team of resources to create automation to manage the OCI platform and own platform operations.
  • Collaborating with external teams within the company to solve complex problems.
  • Takes on-call rotation involves work outside of normal hours.

The Must Haves:

  • Excellent knowledge of core Oracle databases required (up through 19c).
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle EBS database administration through 12.2.4 required, including concurrent processing, system administration, start up and shut down, RAC, OEM in the EBS space, support of printing including XML, managing of schema statistics, identification of poorly performing queries, performance tuning, RAC refreshes.
  • Excellent knowledge of Data Guard and DR concepts.
  • Knowledge of Oracle EBS system administration to monitor concurrent requests and collect information on job logs.
  • Proficient knowledge to manage and monitor FMW, Weblogic Server, SOA Suite, Golden Gate, Demantra and Vertex.
  • Comfort with Linux and windows - able to login to various environments, start/stop/monitor services in these environments - determine status or issues in these environments.
  • Unix shell scripting
  • Excellent communication skills

Compensation and Benefits

The annual pay range for this position in US is 91,800 - 146,600 USD

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is 78,800 - 126,000 USD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
