Dartmouth College: School of Arts & Sciences: Arts and Humanities: Leslie Center for the Humanities Location Hanover, NH Open Date Jul 23, 2024 Deadline Sep 18, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description With the generous support of the Mellon Foundation, the Leslie Center for the Humanities at Dartmouth College invites applications for a two-year residential postdoctoral fellowship in the Jewish Studies Program. We seek applicants with specialization in any of the following fields: 1. The history of Jews in North Africa and/or the Middle East during the early modern or modern periods; 2. Comparative Jewish literary traditions in Yiddish, Hebrew, German, or English; 3. Medieval Kabbalah and/or Hasidic texts. With these areas, we will prioritize candidates whose research makes use of theoretical modalities, particularly feminist theory and women's and non-binary experience. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD, or be ABD, in a relevant humanities discipline. To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must have their degree conferred between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2025. Applicants must focus on materials customarily associated with research in the humanities or employ methods common in humanistic research. There is no requirement that fellows be U.S. citizens, but the Mellon Foundation does prefer that fellowships be awarded to individuals who seem likely to make their careers in the United States.
