Assistant Underwriter

Summary:

• Assist the Senior Underwriters with EmblemHealth's existing and new business accounts, including Broker Accounts, within published time frames.
• Process sold new business groups. Focus primarily on HIP community rated accounts.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships between Underwriting and Marketing.
• Maintain logs and complete various reports as directed.

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite new and existing groups within the published departmental time frames.
• Review and analyze Request for Proposals (RFPs).
• Collect data and produce reports from EmblemHealth's ER Datamart.
• Provide technical and administrative support to department.
• Prepare initial incurred claim reports and benefit modifications in response to requests from groups, brokers, or consultants.
• Communicate Underwriting needs to the Sales Representatives.
• Perform related group underwriting duties as assigned by the Manager or other Departmental Management.
• Other duties and projects assigned.
