The Technical Application Group (TAG) Expert, Packaging Equipment serves as a Packaging Equipment SME called on to consult and serve as technical lead on highly complex projects to identify and specify equipment solutions that deliver against Nestle's innovation, cost, sustainability, and performance ambitions. This highly autonomous role partners with factories, Engineering, other Technical Application Group (TAG) teams, and additional partners to proactively identify technologies and collaborate to ensure equipment solutions are effectively implemented across the enterprise. They represent the Technical Application Group (TAG) as subject matter expert in one or more areas of packaging equipment. As an Expert, they are responsible for partnering with internal and external partners to create and deliver content to train and coach others to contribute to the success of the TAG. They also collaborate internally and externally with equipment vendors to build relationships to continuously improve technical skills and personal development. This role plays an integral part in influencing vendor selection strategy in partnership with Global Procurement and Engineering.

Key Outputs and Deliverables:

Influence and Drive Packaging Equipment Strategy across all NUSA Business Units (40%):

* Provide design input to packaging equipment solutions for capital projects or market standards including detailed phases of the engineering work required to execute solutions.

* Generate all necessary packaging engineering documentation required for Project Engineers to successfully implement recommended solutions: URS, relevant Packaging Equipment Standards, and key FAT/SAT documentation.

* Serve as SME for Packaging Equipment and provide input into key design milestones for projects across multiple product platforms including frozen foods, liquid beverages, and ambient food and beverage.

* Ensure proposed solutions are compliant with Nestle and Industry standards as well as harmonized with equipment procurement strategy.

* Consult on a wide variety of projects requiring Equipment SME input.

Drive Transformational Growth, Cost Reduction, and Performance Improvements (20%):

* Leverage understanding of Nestle packaging asset base, knowledge of packaging technology, and vendor strategy to propose transformational solutions to enable efficiency, cost, and/or performance.

* Provide critical input into Global Procurement Equipment Strategy by providing critical insight on vendor capability and fit within Nestle factories.

* Build relationships with key vendors in partnership with Global Procurement to enable standardization efforts across the enterprise.

* Partner with Brand Packaging Developers to find synergies in business and equipment roadmaps.

Introduction of New Packaging and Processes within Factories (20%):

* Autonomously collaborate and influence internal and external project teams (Teams are made up of R&D, Product Developers, Project Managers, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, Packaging, Factories, Marketing, Co-Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Supply Chain, etc.) to develop, industrialize, and launch equipment solutions in support of Nestle's Innovation, Sustainability, Cost, or Performance ambitions.

* Exercise agility by quickly proposing solutions to unique challenges that can unlock growth opportunities within factories.

* Provide working Packaging equipment knowledge, guidance and support to the Factory / R&D / Engineering resources where required on key projects.

Play a key role in technical competency mastership building within and outside of T&P and autonomously provide technical external to Nestle benchmarking insights to drive business impactful ensure supply strategy development (15%):

* Serve as a TAG Certified Trainer in one or more TAG competencies.

* Develop and deliver training content within and outside of TAG based on expertise.

* Coach and mentor junior associates on projects and technologies.

* Coach and build capabilities among all levels in the factory on key equipment platforms where required.

* Partner with other Experts, Functions, and Vendors where necessary to develop effective material to elevate capability within and outside of TAG.

Factory Support and Troubleshooting (5%)

* Support factory packaging equipment asset base by maintaining equipment capability matrix for relevant factories.

* Leverage expertise to support factory improvement projects in the areas of Unplanned Stops reduction, Asset Intensity improvements, and waste reduction.

* Where necessary, provide technical support to factory Focused Improvement efforts in the area of machine setup, condition, and theory of operation

* Where applicable - develop and deliver key training content to factories to enable performance improvement

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL

EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering field required (Preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial). Advanced degree is a plus.

*Minimum 10 years of Engineering related work experience with a preference for 7+ years in equipment selection process (vendor selection, capital process experience, or Development). Experience should be in food and beverage manufacturing.

* Experience influencing and drafting documentation, standards, and specifications required for equipment selection and installation.

* Familiarity with capital process flow and timelines as well as familiarity with stage-gate processes

* Proven experience in leading and managing technical projects (budgets, timelines, risk identification & mitigation, stakeholder management, etc.)

* Served as Technical Lead and successful led equipment implementation across multiple factories.

* Deep technical expertise in multiple packaging and/or process disciplines

* Experience providing technical coaching and mentorship to individuals as well as training others in group settings.

* Prior Operations, factory, and/or R&D experience is a plus.

SKILLS:

* Effectively collaborates and influences people at all levels in the organization with a focus on entry level through Vice-President leveraging strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Ability to understand factory needs and requirements to properly influence technical decisions related to packaging equipment.

* Flexibility and adaptability to perform in a high-volume, fast-paced and dynamic environment.

* Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and advancements.

* Ability to translate customer, consumer, or organizational needs into scalable equipment proposals.

* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factory process capabilities.

* Understands critical safety requirements in the area of packaging and packaging equipment.

* Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and guide associates of all levels.

* Self-motivated and extremely agile with change.

* Ability to evaluate vendor proposals, perform technical vetting, and provide input to procurement strategies in the space of packaging equipment.
