Job Summary Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking an Instructor Designer. The Center for Teaching and Learning Employee Engagement (CTLEE) department provides employees with opportunities for growth as professionals and the means to learn innovative teaching strategies for all instructional environments. The Instructor Designer is a vital member of the CTLEE team who is passionate about learning, pedagogy, and technology and provides leadership and consultation to faculty, staff, and industry partners in designing, developing, assessing, and evaluating instructional systems and emerging technologies. A key requirement of this position is instructional design knowledge and skills, as well as the ability to consult with faculty to ensure a high-quality learning experience for students. In addition, the Instructor Designer is responsible for creating and implementing professional development learning opportunities supporting best practices of teaching, learning, design, and assessment for all teaching modalities. To best serve the students, division, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus with the possibility of limited remote work. Essential Functions 20% Consult and collaborate with faculty on pedagogically sound and effective use of instructional design strategies. Researches, develops, and facilitates the implementation of instructional applications technology including web-based resources, AI technologies, multimedia integration, assessment, and other instructional systems for course development and improvement. 20% Create and facilitate professional development learning opportunities supporting current best practices of course design and technology integration. 20% Provide leadership, training, and support to enhance digital learning environments and create new services and resources that integrate current pedagogical practices and emerging technologies. Routinely leads project teams and/or regular staff on an ongoing basis and may supervise assigned exempt and non-exempt regular staff. 20% Provide on-demand support for faculty and staff regarding their teaching, learning, and technology needs. 10% Support online learning course design and review courses for their alignment with Quality Matters standards. 10% Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional design, training and development, educational technology or related field and four years of experience in instructional design and development, program and systems development and/or assessment and evaluation. OR An equivalent combination the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. Master's degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or closely related field. 2. Demonstrated experience consulting with faculty on instructional design projects to enhance digital learning environments and applied technologies. 3. Experience facilitating professional development learning opportunities. 4. Demonstrated experience leading a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and providing on-demand support for faculty and staff regarding their teaching, learning, and technology needs. 5. Demonstrated experience using learning theories, instructional design theory and academic assessment techniques such as web-based resources, AI technologies, multimedia integration, assessment, and other instructional systems for curriculum development,. 6. Experience using educational technology and a learning management system, preferably Canvas. Experience supporting online learning initiatives at an institutional level. 7. Demonstrated competency/certification in Quality Matters and/or universal design.
