Primary Function: The Basic Needs Director oversees and continually develops resources and programming to provide non-academic support for low-income students to help resolve challenges that interrupt achievement of academic success. The Director will oversee staff/interns who work closely with students requesting assistance with non-academic challenges to develop an educational plan, coordinate college support services, and ensure that student follow through with resources to complete their academic goals. Director will provide data and assessment to evaluate student and program success.

Responsibilities: (1) Administer student basic needs assistance program targeted to helping students address life barriers that impact academic success; expand program as needed (a) Manage data and budget systems to support program, (b) Intake and referral of students to college and community resources, (c) Provide follow-up case management and assessment for student referrals (d) Manage the Spartan Aid financial assistance program, (e) Maintain resources within the college and community organizations (2) Support management of the KEYS grant, (3) Oversee student social work interns (a) Complete documentation per university intern requirements, (b) provide weekly supervision, (4) Advocate and educate the college community regarding the non-academic needs of students

Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Associate Dean, Student Services, Pocono for assigned responsibilities (2) Work closely will all departments of Student Affairs in carrying out responsibilities (3) Relates role to the mission and goals of department and college community, (4) Accept other responsibilities as assigned.

Performance Standards: Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) Mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified time frame, (2) Responsibilities of this position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives, (3) Effective cooperative relationships exist with other members of the team, staff, and members of the community

Qualifications: (1) Education: a Master's Degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education accredited program, valid license in the state of Pennsylvania preferred. (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) Strong experience working in human services serving diverse populations, (b) Strong interpersonal and communication skills; (c) Ability to advocate for the needs of others; (d) Ability to work collaboratively with others; (e) Committed to student-centered education and completion, (f) Commitment to the NASW Core Competencies and Code of Ethics, (3) Experience: (a) Previous experience with case management and referral services (b) Experience working with diverse populations, (c) Higher education and social work intern supervision experience preferred.
