Product Engineer I To support Niagara Bottling as the leading beverage manufacturer, the Product Engineering team uses engineering expertise to develop new, commercially viable, packaging and beverage manufacturing solutions.

The Product Engineer I is responsible for leading projects ranging from new package development to engineering design retrofits for beverage processing and filling lines. With support, you will be leading Product Engineering to implementation. Project Management Responsibilities (40%)
  • Oversee activities in the New Product Development (NPD) process and help drive timely completion of all deliverables leading to the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Lead scope definition, capital budgeting, and project commercialization timeline across all business units with support from subject matter experts.
  • Track project milestones via building project charter, timeline, risk management logs, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with the following teams: Procurement, Sales, Project Management, Engineering Design, Beverage Development, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.
Packaging/Process Engineering Responsibilities (55%)
  • Lead technical scoping with internal and external teams, such as: Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotations (RFQ), Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Engineering Design Clarifications.
  • Collaborate closely with Packaging Design & Engineering teams to design, develop, prototype, and iterate on customer packaging solutions. Deliverables include: 2D renderings, 3D prototypes, functional additive recommendations, etc.
  • Participate as necessary in product/package line trials to assess capability and feasibility of upcoming product launches.
  • Participate in 3D printing and digital label prototyping operation.
  • Support senior and staff engineers in complex program scoping.
Continuous Improvement Responsibilities (5%)
  • Identify and participate in training opportunities to improve technical acumen, including manufacturing plant rotation (if applicable).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to refine department's processes, procedures, models, tools, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain product, packaging, and equipment capability databases.

Work Experience
  • Required:
    • 0-2 years - Experience in Beverage Manufacturing, CPG, or other related industries o 0-2 years - Experience in Product Engineering or other related field *experience may include a combination of work experience and education
  • Preferred:
    • 2-4 years - Experience in Beverage Manufacturing/ Engineering environment o 2-4 years - Experience in Product Engineering or other related field

Competencies
  • Basic understanding of New Product Development processes.
  • Basic knowledge of beverage manufacturing and plastic injection and blow molding technologies.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and ability to perform quantitative analysis to support project decisions.
  • Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
  • Good technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently on tasks with routine guidance from senior team members.
Education
  • Minimum Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Product Design, Business and other related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred:
    • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, Product Design
    • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) Certification
