Position title: Assistant Specialist Salary range:
The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table 24B for the salary range at UCSB. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $61,900 - $70,100 annually. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. The successful candidate will be involved in performing animal surgery, setting up neuronal cultures, preparing brain organoids, optimizing brain organoid techniques, characterizing neuronal cultures and brain organoids immunocytochemically, communicating results and preparing reports. Appointees to the Specialist series engage in specialized research, professional activity, and University and/or public service. Specialists use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community. Appointees at the Assistant Specialist level enable research as part of a team and may provide some independent input into the planning and execution of the research.
