The Engineer I is responsible for leading and managing a wide range of product sustaining actions and projects across all Nordson Industrial Coating System (ICS) product lines. The Engineer I will be required to effectively manage projected timelines, deliverables, and communication on progress and completion. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player and contributor that can also function independently. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Leads and manages the execution of projects and custom solutions centered on product design, product enhancements, supply chain initiatives, and customer requirements. Leads and performs product maintenance and engineering changes in support of product quality, operational improvements, and supply chain changes. Leads and performs design calculations and analysis required for the design of components or systems. Calculations and/or analysis may include stress analysis, force/load/deflection on mechanical parts and air flow/pressure calculations for pneumatic components and/or systems. Leads and supports customer quality requests through Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) process as needed. Collaborates with cross-functional teams (i.e., marketing, purchasing, commercial and manufacturing) to drive activities and tasks to completion and on-time. Utilizes basic Lean/CI tools to drive sustainable product solutions and process improvements. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements Education Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Mechanical Engineering Experience 2-5 years of product design and project management experience is required. Preferred Skills and Abilities Experience with 3D modeling software: SolidWorks Experience with GD&T methodology and knowledge in ANSI requirements Demonstrated skills and experience in Product Design and Enhancements Demonstrated skills and experience in Root Cause Analysis / Problem Solving Methods (A3, 8-D, PDCA, DMAIC) Demonstrated ability to apply sound engineering principles and practices in the design, development and verification of possible solutions. Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Materials, and Fastening Methods central to mechanical designs and products Excellent Project Management skills Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and activities Excellent organizational and communication skills Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Product Compliance, Certifications and Regulations (REACH, RoHS, WEEE) knowledge preferred Experience with SAP or an ERP System preferred Working Conditions and Physical Demands Manufacturing environment.
