The Engineer I is responsible for leading and managing a wide range of product sustaining actions and projects across all Nordson Industrial Coating System (ICS) product lines. The Engineer I will be required to effectively manage projected timelines, deliverables, and communication on progress and completion. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player and contributor that can also function independently.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages the execution of projects and custom solutions centered on product design, product enhancements, supply chain initiatives, and customer requirements.
  • Leads and performs product maintenance and engineering changes in support of product quality, operational improvements, and supply chain changes.
  • Leads and performs design calculations and analysis required for the design of components or systems. Calculations and/or analysis may include stress analysis, force/load/deflection on mechanical parts and air flow/pressure calculations for pneumatic components and/or systems.
  • Leads and supports customer quality requests through Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) process as needed.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (i.e., marketing, purchasing, commercial and manufacturing) to drive activities and tasks to completion and on-time.
  • Utilizes basic Lean/CI tools to drive sustainable product solutions and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education

Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Mechanical Engineering

Experience

2-5 years of product design and project management experience is required.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with 3D modeling software: SolidWorks
  • Experience with GD&T methodology and knowledge in ANSI requirements
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Product Design and Enhancements
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Root Cause Analysis / Problem Solving Methods (A3, 8-D, PDCA, DMAIC)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound engineering principles and practices in the design, development and verification of possible solutions.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Materials, and Fastening Methods central to mechanical designs and products
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and activities
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Product Compliance, Certifications and Regulations (REACH, RoHS, WEEE) knowledge preferred
  • Experience with SAP or an ERP System preferred
