The Aircraft Mechanic III-Electro-Environmental will primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled
aircraft and equipment electro/environmental maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft
and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and
supplements), as well as industry standards.
Responsibilities may include:
* Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on assigned MDS aircraft in a highly "cross-
utilization/trained" environment.
* Will be required to perform at a high level of competency in one or more of the following areas:
repair and reclamation, egress, avionics, APG, wheel & tire, sheet metal, composite repair,
propulsion, fuels, AGE, armament, munitions, non-destructive inspection (NDI), and pneudraulics.
* Troubleshoots/repairs complex problems.
* Prioritizes and directs the activities other technicians.
* Maintains aircraft and support equipment forms records IAW Air Force procedures utilizing Air
Force Information Systems and forms as required.
* May perform other duties such as: transient aircraft support, CDDAR team member, phase dock,
QA augmentation, etc.
* May maintain, repair and modify aircraft structures, structural components and engines of
complex to extreme difficulty.
* May maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines,
hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
* May apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment
malfunctions.
* May apply technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
* May apply professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by
interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
* May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
* May be responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians
throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
* Assists other personnel and work centers as directed.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 10 years performing aircraft electro/environmental maintenance functions in a
military environment with at least three (3) years of F-117A expereince preferred, and attainment
of an Air Force 7 level (or equivalent) required.
* Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of
maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
* Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
* Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is
mandatory.
* A thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair
procedures and replacement of components required.
* Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of
aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable
tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.
* Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical
engineers and customers alike.
* Must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery
schedule.
* Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government
customer.
* Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
* Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.
* Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
* High school diploma or GED is required.
* Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while
maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
Working Conditions:
* Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
* Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running
equipment and aircraft.
* Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
* May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
* May be exposed to contaminants.
* May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders
* Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise
* Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear,
safety glasses, etc.
