Our team is currently seeking, at our Plant City, FL location; a Spray Coatings Technician. General Summary A successful applicant should be hardworking, self-starting, reliable and have good communication and organizational skills. A Spray Coating Technician is an individual with strong background in applying polyurea coatings for various applications, including industrial, commercial, and residential projects. Work with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. The goal is to ensure the effective installation spray containment liner systems in accordance with documented installation guidelines. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for polyurea coating application by cleaning, pressure washing, sanding, and priming as necessary.
- Operate and maintain spray equipment specifically designed for polyurea applications, such as plural-component spray rigs.
- Mix polyurea materials accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper ratios and consistency for optimal performance.
- Apply polyurea coatings evenly and smoothly, achieving desired thickness and coverage for each project.
- Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity, to ensure ideal conditions for polyurea application.
- Conduct quality control checks throughout the coating process to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform routine maintenance to keep spray rigs in optimal condition.
- Maintain an inventory of polyurea materials and supplies, and reorder as needed to avoid production delays.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
- Complete inspections and conduct repairs if needed.
- Communicate project progress, site conditions, equipment problems, etc.
- Timely submittals of timesheets, expenses, and additional site installation reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in polyurea application is highly desirable.
- Proven experience working with polyurea spray equipment and application techniques in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Thorough understanding of polyurea chemistry and application methods, including surface preparation and curing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow project specifications and instructions accurately.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude to address equipment issues as they arise.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Have a great attitude and willing to grow with the company
- Diligently follow safe work practices for yourself at all times.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel and stay overnight, away from home 90% of the time.
- Must have valid drivers license with ability to obtain Class A license.
Working Conditions
- Able to lift and carry 50 lbs to waist and over head
- Ability to use ladders at least 10 feet off the ground.
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, stand and walk up to 10 hours per day.
- Wear all required PPE including: FR Clothing, knee pads, cut resistant gloves, hearing protection (as required) and safety glasses (as required)
- Good physical condition and endurance.
- This position is an outdoor position.
- Work in hot and cold climates.
