Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) Department at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is seeking a full-time faculty member. This individual's primary role will be as an instructor. This position includes teaching and assessment of a variety of professional and clinical topics throughout the didactic and clinical curriculum.

In addition to a resume/CV, the PA Program requests that applicants submit a personal statement, as well as a statement detailing what diversity means to them.

Who We Are

Since its inception in 1991, more than 1,500 students have graduated from the Physician Assistant (PA) Program at Rosalind Franklin University. The faculty takes pride in educating students through innovative and interactive classroom activities, team-based learning, quality clinical rotation experiences, and state of the art simulation. The interprofessional focus of the PA Program, and throughout Rosalind Franklin University, prepares our students to practice as members of effective healthcare teams in a wide range of medical specialties and settings.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities as a Faculty Instructor include but are not limited to:

  • Participation in curriculum development, delivery, and assessment

  • Instruction throughout didactic and clinical phases of the program

  • Academic and professional advising for students

  • Involvement in the admissions process

  • Participation in faculty development activities

  • Service on committees at the department, college, and university level

  • Participation in the ARC-PA accreditation process

  • Ongoing scholarly activity (e.g. presentations, publications, grants, etc.)

  • Other duties as assigned

All full-time faculty members employed by RFUMS are expected to engage in activities that are considered core to their primary role as a faculty member. These activities may include teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

Teaching responsibilities vary and may include:


  • Direct instruction

  • Curriculum management

  • Assessment

  • Advising and mentoring students


Scholarly activities vary and may include:


  • Original scholarship

  • Grant procurement

  • Research mentoring for student projects


Service activities vary and may include internal and external contributions through:

  • Committee work

  • Contributions to the profession

  • Direct patient care


Scholarly activities and/or clinical activities are negotiated and determined at the department level and are primarily based upon the faculty track.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

  • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination with booster or a university approved exemption

Required Education & Experience

  • Master's degree

  • At least 3 years of direct patient care healthcare experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and problem-solving

  • Apply the principles of interprofessional collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and clinical sites

  • Interact professionally with diverse populations

  • Display professionalism and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the program's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physician Assistant (PA) with current NCCPA certification and Illinois Physician Assistant license (or eligible)

  • Previous experience in health profession graduate education, including curriculum development, delivery, and assessment

  • Education beyond the Master's Degree

  • Prior experience with ARC-PA accreditation process
