Your Role With Us:Performs responsibilities of a staff technologist, setting high standards of performance; Plans, directs and supervises the prioritization and performance of the daily workloads within the department.Interprets laboratory policies to department staff, analyzes and resolves employee problems and initiates plans to motivate staff and achieve goals; Participates in hiring decisions.Schedules employees, provides orientation and training programs and performs actions such as disciplinary actions and yearly performance evaluations; Assures that all staff on the shift are properly trained to perform the necessary duties.Acts as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments and their leadership as needed; Personnel complete tests within established turnaround times, audited regularly through the LIS or by other means.Obtain a minimum of 8 CEU's annually.Responsible for all competency training, testing, and sign offs Supervisor expectations: Demonstrate and build commitment; Communicate the importance of the organization's mission, vision and values.Demonstrate commitment to the mission, vision and values by showing their connection to hospital, department and individual activities; Ensure employees understand their role and responsibilities in achieving organizational success Expect and reward excellence.Establish and communicate clear expectations; Provide ongoing coaching and feedback; Confront behaviors that violate values or standards; Acknowledge and celebrate excellent performance; Encourage initiative.Understand, interpret and consistently apply the organization's policies and procedures; Respect divergent viewpoints; Promotes positive communication in person and in writing; Communicate effectively.Model open, clear and consistent communication; Demonstrate effective listening - listen to understand; Ensure that employees are informed about department and hospital goals, strategies and action plans.Create a culture of continuous improvement; Demonstrate a personal commitment to performance improvement; Model performance improvement principles. Have a Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution with six (6) months in high complexity testing within the subspecialty, four (4) years of laboratory training or experience or both.Medical Laboratory Scientist registration required (ASCP)Minimum four (4) years of relevant technical laboratory experience.Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is an equal opportunity employer.
