Brief Description

The purpose of this position is to manage and direct the operations, maintenance, public safety, security, public relations, and budget development/execution of the properties and facilities of the Brazos River Authority (BRA) lake project area. This is accomplished by overseeing lake operations and maintenance activities; permitting and lease activities; managing various lake projects; developing and implementing dam safety and security plans; coordinating flood releases; providing customer service to the general public, providing media relations; consideration to reside in BRA housing; and any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



  • Minimum seven years' experience or equivalent combination of education
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and good driving record
  • Preferred: Reside in BRA housing
  • Preferred: Master's degree


  • Bachelors Degree (in related field) - Completed course requirements to earn a Bachelor's degree in the field related to the position and is expected to utilize this level of education during the work day to the benefit of the organization.



Key Competencies



  • Manages all aspects of dam operations, lake operations, and security for project areas. Oversees maintenance and operations; coordinates flood and other water releases; oversees the management and maintenance of public recreation areas, pipelines as necessary, dams, roads, and BRA structures and property; conducts meetings with other department personnel to coordinate activities; and oversees law enforcement activities.
  • Manages various projects as part of a team; oversees development of annual budgets; supervises budget execution and development; tracks infrastructure condition; makes repair and improvement decisions; allocates resources; approves major purchases; and manages lease/permit administration.
  • Provides media and customer relations by coordinating public activities; representing the BRA to various organizations; conducting media interviews and conducting Town Hall meetings.
  • Performs supervisory functions by interviewing and hiring employees; observing and monitoring work tasks; mentoring and motivating employees; ensuring positive employee relations; supporting and promoting a safe work environment; encouraging and coordinating training opportunities for personnel; evaluating work performance and providing constructive feedback; assisting employees to correct deficiencies; initiating disciplinary actions; and conducting termination procedures, when necessary.
  • Provides leadership functions by coordinating activities with senior management; participating in strategic planning; and working as a team to support and implement BRA programs, policies and initiatives.
  • Preferred for the Reservoir Manager to reside in BRA housing and be responsible for answering and responding to after-hour emergency call-outs. If not in BRA housing, reside within a reasonable distance but still be willing, able, and available to respond to after hour emergency situations and possible call outs and ensuring dam safety and security are adequately addressed.
  • Performs work in a safe, secure and productive manner by following all safety rules, regulations, and procedures; participating in safety-related training; utilizing appropriate PPE at all times; and taking immediate action to protect against unsafe acts or workplace hazards and/or risks.



STARTING SALARY RANGE: Min: $128,853.42 to Max: $167,509.44 annual salary. This is an exempt position.
