The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Under the direction of an authorized user, the PET/CT Technologist is responsible for the use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation to generate fusion images for diagnostic and research purposes.
Responsibilities
The PET/CT Technologist will review the patient's medical history to understand the patient's illness and pending diagnostic procedure; instruct the patient before, during, and following the procedure; evaluate the satisfactory preparation of the patient before beginning a procedure; and recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate lifesaving first aid when appropriate.
Administrative functions may include supervising other technologists, students, and other personnel; participating in procuring supplies and equipment; documenting laboratory operations; participating in radiation safety protocols and taking an active role in radiation reduction programs; participating in departmental inspections conducted by various licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agencies; participating in departmental quality assurance or quality improvement projects; and participating in scheduling patient examinations.
- Must be able to produce high quality diagnostic and research imaging with little supervision.
- Must provide patient care, perform instrumentation and quality control, possess knowledge of radiation safety
- Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to perform injection procedures.
- Operating knowledge of personal computers and medical charting systems.
- Capable of a flexible work schedule.
- Must be able to interact with patients, University personnel and customers in a responsible, professional and ethical manner.
- Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
- Responsible for the following and adhering to Joint Commission Quality Standards which includes, but is not limited to: CPR, immunizations, training, and Infection Control.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology Program required.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience, plus four (4) years of related experience.
- Must be registered with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (N.M.T.C.B) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N).
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (CT) or N.M.T.C.B. (CT).
- Must possess active New York State licenses in Nuclear Medicine https://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/doctors/radiological/
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer registration American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R).
- Prefer active New York State licenses in Radiography https://www.health.ny.gov/professionals/doctors/radiological/
- Prefer experience with Computed Tomography (CT).
