Job Description Join a dynamic, creative, and dedicated group of arts administrators in the Kennedy Center's Programming Department. The shared services team includes three unique and boundary pushing teams - Chamber, Classical New Music, and Jazz; Special Programming & Comedy; and Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music, allowing for exciting cross-discipline collaboration with an emphasis on work with Artistic Directors Renee Fleming, Jennifer Koh, Jason Moran, and Q-Tip. The Assistant Manager, Programming - Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music will primarily support the administrative aspects of the Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music Department managing the day-to-day operations of the department under the Director, Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music. This position is essential in furthering the Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music department's mission to celebrate hip hop's role as a catalyst for innovation, exploration, and transformation and its power to build and transform communities through art and action. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Programming. Although this position will primarily focus on specific disciplines and programs, the ecosystem of the Shared Services department requires staff to work across all three departments as assigned by the Senior Manager, Programming, learning about each genre while assisting with show duty, festivals, internally produced performances and/or events, and other large-scale projects. The Assistant Manager must be able to make decisions and exercise discretion in order to prioritize assignments and work under significant pressure, as many projects are time sensitive and involve concurrent deadlines. An eagerness to take initiative, communicate, work independently and in a team setting, and problem solve with a positive attitude is essential. Key Responsibilities
