SUMMARY

The Production/Shipping Supervisor supervises shop and shipping employees in a manufacturing environment plant and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Supervises and coordinates activities with picking product and preparing it for shipping to the customer and bringing material into facility. Dispatches shipments to trucking companies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Engages employees, and is responsible in timely administering performance reviews, and corrective action.
  • Analyses personnel needs and participates in the recruitment efforts.
  • Fosters a work environment that promotes collaboration, responsiveness and communication.
  • Champions the plant's safety including housekeeping.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and
  • Provides training to new and existing employees.
  • Approves and ensures accuracy, per the law and policy, for payroll.
  • Enforces all rules and regulations.
  • Delegates duties and examines quality of work.
  • Any other duties required by Plant Manager.


PRODUCTION/SHIPPING


  • Coordinates maintenance of equipment and PMs.
  • Runs schedule per scheduler's specifications.
  • Ensures quality of all products produced.
  • Performs quality checks.
  • Ensures proper scanning by coil handlers and truck drivers.
  • Inventory Management.
  • Supervises shipping, receiving, and stock pulling functions.
  • Ensures correct shipment of orders to customers.
  • Ensures proper packaging of finished goods.
  • Manages warehousing functions of finished product.
  • Dispatches outbound shipments.
  • Coordinates inbound pickups and unloading.
  • Approves freight invoices.
  • Manages operation (including maintenance) of forklift fleet.
  • Works with sales to manage truck routes and freight costs.


SAFETY


  • Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.
  • Wears and maintains all required PPE.
  • Keeps assigned work area clean at all times.
  • Understands all safety devices and their operation.
  • Notifies management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to operation.
  • Safely operates all lifting devices per manufacturing specifications


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Supervises plant staff and ensures employee safety while overseeing the production floor.
  • Mentors and develops employees to create a positive work environment.
  • Establishes strong employee relationships and fosters collaborative influence by upholding the company values.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related area preferred.
  • 3+ years in steel framing, lath, accessory environment, and transportation management of steel related products.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience.
  • Flat-bed loading knowledge.
  • Strong written and oral communications.
  • Ability to lead others.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, forklift operations and breakdowns.
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



  • Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and converting fractions into decimals.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, and caliper accurately.


WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Manufacturing facility - exposed to heat and cold
  • Personal Protective Equipment required at all times
  • Controlled Noise exposure
  • Activity level is high - continuous movement
