GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS ASSOCIATE (STARLINK)

Starlink will provide high-speed broadband around the world, helping to connect the unserved and underserved. As a member of the Global Government Affairs team, you will help enable Starlink's expansion internationally, supporting our team of in-house lobbyists.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Support global business, government affairs, and international roll-out of Starlink
  • Monitor, investigate, evaluate and engage with foreign governments regarding digital connectivity programs and government-sponsored broadband initiatives; support initial evaluation of program requirements, eligibility, and available funding for such programs in support of Global Business team
  • Assist with policy matters related to foreign direct investment, satellite and spectrum policy, market entry, regulatory fees, strategic technologies, and internet connectivity
  • Monitor developments in US foreign policy, trade agreements, and geopolitics related to telecom & space policy; engage with U.S. Government foreign policy officials as needed
  • Support senior director in overall coordination of government affairs team activities, tracking, and the development of collateral advocacy materials, research, and other similar functions
  • Monitor and analyze international government universal connectivity programs, in tandem with the government sales team
  • Perform research as needed, develop policy and collateral materials
  • Draft white papers, briefings, and policy positions for external and internal audiences
  • Develop and maintain tracking tool relating to government-funded broadband initiatives in strategic markets


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience working on legislative or foreign policy matters in government, at a thinktank or within the private sector


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Multilingual, with at least conversational proficiency
  • Experience working, studying, or conducting research outside of the U.S.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including editing skills
  • Outstanding demonstrated research skills
  • Experience working on issues directly related to space policy and telecommunications
  • Knowledge of intergovernmental institutions such as World Bank, IMF, ITU, UNOOSA, etc.
  • Experience working with foreign Ministries on complex projects and/or highly regulated industries
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, launch vehicles, satellites, and space technology
  • Direct experience in achieving definitive foreign policy outcomes
  • Passion for SpaceX's mission and goals, particularly connecting disconnected and historically underserved areas
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be willing to travel internationally
  • Flexibility required including long hours and weekend work when necessary to support operations and critical project timelines
  • Must be willing to attend political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

Government Affairs Associate: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation & will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:



  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
