Position Overview

This is a field-based position for most of the year . Primary responsibility is m anag ing New York compliance programs, both in branch and in field . Secondary responsibility is to assist the New Jersey and New England Region Technical Manager with pesticide usage reporting and compliance activities that span the states of CT, MA , ME , NH, NJ, RI , VT . Completes Branch audits consisting of field visits and a complete list of branch documentation and invoice records. Documents using Compass Process Map Application.

Responsibilities

  • Gate Checks (truck contents inspections) (minimum of 2) will be completed upon arrival to each branch to verify vehicles are NY state compliant and equipped with all items necessary to complete each workday.
  • Identify and develop apprentices to become fully licensed. Identifies apprentices that are due for field evaluations.
  • Manages Field & Vehicle Evaluations by carrying out and documenting using the Compass Process Map application.
  • Reviews specialist training and license compliance. Emphasis will be on: Validating New York apprentice training completion (review of manuals), New York specific training on product restrictions, including sign-offs , Branch pesticide licensing and apprentice licensing plans (including study preparations).
  • Reviews the upcoming testing dates and exam registrations for all eligible apprentices.
  • Reviews applicator exam results and if retesting is needed, development of specialized training to improve results.
  • Tracks pesticide recertification credits.
  • Works with Region Technical Manager to ensure program date range compliance.
  • Ensures a daily process is in place for reviewing service summary records.
  • Verifies service summary accuracy using an in-depth weekly review of active fill template usage.
  • Services ticket summaries (minimum of 20) while onsite during the audit to ensure New York compliance and accuracy of record keeping. For branches not receiving an audit, service ticket summaries (minimum of 10 per branch) will also be reviewed each week.
  • Ensures apprentice training programs are completed and tracked.
  • Management of pesticide application pre-notification program in designated counties.
  • Manages hazardous waste disposals, truck rides, inspections and material storage.
  • Assist in developing compliance-related NY training programs.
  • Prepare New York annual branch pesticide usage reports.
  • Attend quarterly meeting s with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in agronomy, horticulture, soil sciences or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of agronomic, horticultural or pest control technical experience or agricultural inspection experience is required.
  • Leadership and supervisory management skills and/or experience required.

  • Advanced technical knowledge of agronomy, horticulture, soil sciences, etc.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations governing chemicals for consumer applications (e.g., herbicides, fungicides, pesticides).
  • Process management skills to develop, implement and support new process and initiatives.
  • Supervisory management skills to delegate, develop, coach, and manage the performance of others.
  • Training and development knowledge and skills to develop, design and deliver technical knowledge and expertise to audiences of varying skill levels.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, chemical concentrations, environmental risk assessments, percentages, area and volume.
  • Research and problem solving skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).


Ability to speak, read and write fluently in English is required.

Pay Ranges
$65,979.00 - $109,965.00

This range is based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills, experience, and geographic location, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive experience. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. In addition to monetary compensation, we offer benefits, including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance and Company-matching 401(k) in addition to other programs and perks.
