Position Summary:

The Workforce Administrative Coordinator is part of the adult education team at Briya Public Charter School - a leading two-generation education program serving immigrant parents and their young children in Washington, D.C. Briya is a Tier One Public Charter School, consistently achieving the highest educational outcomes through its innovative, family-centric programming.

Briya's workforce development programs provide integrated education and training in the fields of healthcare and early childhood education. Through these programs, adult learners prepare for national industry-recognized certifications in high-demand careers while also increasing their academic and workforce development skills and knowledge. The Workforce Administrative Coordinator supports workforce students, alumni and evening programming.

Briya has a strategic partnership with Mary's Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, further strengthening student families with comprehensive medical, dental, and social services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Wednesday 12:00pm- 9:00pm; Thursday 12:00pm-6:30pm: Friday 9:00am-3:30pm

General administrative tasks



  • Provides administrative assistance to the Workforce (WF) Programs, including Child Development Associate (CDA) and Medical Assistant (MA), and workforce staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks including filing, answering phones, providing essential information regarding classes, emailing, data entry, and other duties related to the WF programs.
  • Orders office supplies and ensures proper function of equipment and supplies
  • Manages the distribution, maintenance, and collection of the Metro Smartcard for the evening students.
  • Promotes and announces schoolwide events and opportunities.
  • Coordinates calling evening workforce students and provides logistical support during inclement weather


Collaboration



  • Coordinate ID picture day with Communications team and distribute Student IDs and library cards for evening students.
  • Supports the IT team in managing, distributing, maintaining, and collecting equipment (laptops, headsets, cameras, etc.).
  • Serves as the evening CASAS proctor by supporting class-based testing and conducting individual CASAS testing
  • Acts as a liaison between the Administrative and Workforce Team, sharing communications and representing the WF team at various meetings and events.
  • Attends Administrative Team meetings and trainings and evening coordination meetings
  • Schedule and coordinate events for evening classes, such as student council, field trips, and other celebrations.
  • Participates in meetings, events, and communications with other members of the WF team and other departments as needed.
  • Serves as the Evening Workforce incident commander, responsible for planning and conducting all drills and reporting them to the Operations Manager
  • Adheres to and coordinates health and safety protocols for evening Workforce (such as COVID protocols)


Supporting Workforce Students



  • Completes re-enrollments and proof of address with evening students in the spring of each year for students who want to continue studying at Briya.
  • Supports current evening students in applying for the Briya PK program the following year.
  • Supports students by providing one-on-one assistance and referrals when the Student Services Coordinator is unavailable.
  • Assists and advises students with the online application and renewal of credentialing applications and with both AMT and the Council of Professional Recognition.
  • Supports students when having issues with the Council of Professional Recognition or American Medical Technologists.
  • Supports attendance procedures and policies daily for evening classes.
  • Makes class announcements when needed in different formats, including, but not limited to, in-person, WhatsApp, and Schoology.
  • Distributes daycare voucher letters
  • Responsible for school application process (MySchoolDC) for evening workforce students
  • Manages student files including transition, health forms, background check documentation


Qualifications:

The WF Administrative Coordinator must have the following knowledge, skills and/or abilities:

Education and/or Experience



  • BA degree preferred; and/or relevant work experience considered
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows, Schoology, and Google Apps for Education
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to develop and contribute to a community of educators
  • 3-5 years of related practical work


Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately complex, muti-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.

Physical Demands-Regularly required sitting; frequently required reaching with hands and arms, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, or hearing; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five pounds. Work Environment - Mostly in a unit with moderate to loud noise

Salary Bands: $45,000-$54,475
