As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies is a leader in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants. With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.

SPX Cooling Technologies is currently hiring Engineering Co-Ops and Interns to be based at our Research and Development Center in Kansas City, Missouri. We have offer the following positions:



  • Co-op positions for the spring/summerand summer/falltimeframes
  • Full-time internships during the summer
  • Part-time internships for students local to Kansas City during the fall and spring semesters



Our intern and co-op positions are paid, and we offer housing stipends for students who are not local to the Kansas City area.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities



  • Engineering test preparation
  • Product and component testing: Structural integrity; hydraulics; fluid mechanics; mechanical components; thermal performance (heat and mass transfer coefficients); thermal capacity; sound levels; vibration characteristics; materials evaluations
  • Product improvement projects including design, layout, technical feasibility and economic study
  • Modification of engineering design programs and templates for code revisions, product revisions and enhancements
  • Activities associated with our engineering office including design, technical support, and documentation
  • Project research
  • General maintenance functions




Education/Experience



  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Materials Engineering or Engineering Technology in progress
  • Computer experience with Solid Modeling software and Microsoft Office
  • Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Experience with various test equipment, hand and power tools and shop equipment preferred
