For this position, we will accept four (4) years of commensurate experience or two (2) years of commensurate experience with an associate degree in lieu of the education requirement below. ** Position Title: Network Engineer I Business Unit: Technology Reports to: Manager of Network Engineering Position Overview: This position is primarily responsible for providing basic network/telecom support for the corporation. The incumbent typically performs regular assignments using own judgment and following the corporation's data policy while keeping manager informed, as necessary, and receives general guidance on new projects as to methods, procedures and desired end results. The incumbent has a significant impact on Technology, operational effectiveness, resources, lines of business and the corporation's reputation. Primary Responsibilities: Helps define network plans and participates in the development of long range telecom/network infrastructure. Performs repetitive telecom/network maintenance tasks. Ability to troubleshoot network/VOIP issues and work toward resolution. Performs network hardware and software patch management according to detailed departmental or vendor instructions. Performs telecom/network hardware and software patch management according to detailed departmental or vendor instructions. Develops and executes test cases and scripts. Documents work performed and procedures for administration. Use excellent knowledge of end user devices, basic understanding of telecom/networking infrastructure, VOIP, troubleshooting, and reporting tools to resolve the various network issues and basic knowledge of routing, switching, IP schemes, load balancers, VoIP, wireless and firewalls. Supports the specific components of a larger project or support initiative. Acts as a vendor liaison for assigned systems/platforms. Works with vendors and external support personnel. Follows change control procedures and submits CRs for planned changes. Works with Technology, Project Management Office and lines of business partners. Works day shift but can be required for after hours and weekend efforts. Works independently or as part of a team to achieve results. Supports specific components of a larger project or support initiative basic or emerging Technology project management skills. Assists with REDI projects, ATMs, adds/moves/changes. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
