PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Process Control Engineer provides process automation support and project management services to produce high quality Dyneema fiber and Dyneema UD in a safe, cost effective manner while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, and environmental standards.

JOB CONTEXT:

The Process Control Engineer will operate within the organizational structure to provide process systems and automation support for Avient Protective Materials. Interact with all staff and local, site, and global colleagues. They will by knowledgeable of the Dyneema and Corporate automation systems requirements.

JOB CONTENT:

Key Areas of Accountability / Responsibility

1. All employees have the responsibility to:

c) Report any SHE and Security incidents (including observed risks) to management

Roles and responsibilities are defined and assigned to those involved in the different Manufacturing Excellence Work Processes.

4. Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed. Take action to correct unsafe acts, systems and procedures.

5. Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of: employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Protective Materials intellectual property limited to a "need to know" only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or Avient Protective Materials property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of Avient Protective Materials property and keys.

6. Owner of the DCS system for Dyneema. Support production in making changes needed in the system and daily troubleshooting of problems.

7. Provides expertise to solve system problems and support Maintenance items related to the DCS and other automated production equipment.

8. DCS and Automation liaison for Dyneema. Responsible for ensuring consistency with other Dyneema sites. Responsible for implementation, future upgrades, and training users.

9. Implement approved equipment upgrade and equipment addition projects. Manage projects to stay within budget and schedule.

10. Monitor and analyze repetitive system problems. Determine the root cause for equipment failures and initiate equipment or procedural changes to correct the problem.

11. Coordinate maintenance turnarounds related to automation and ensure work is completed on time and in a safe manner.

12. Prepare, review and approve production records including maintenance procedures, operating procedures, and change requests as required.

13. Interact with Technicians on a regular basis to ensure effective communication of production and compliance related changes in procedures. Conduct formalized training for operative/technical personnel as necessary.

14. Assist in developing operating goals in support of divisional, unit, and corporate objectives. Develop plans to reduce COGS by continuously improving efficiencies, processing times, reducing labor and material costs, reducing maintenance costs and controlling expense budgets.

15. It is the responsibility of each employee to work in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.

16. Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.

17. Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYN 653 and general awareness presentation. Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.

18. Perform other duties as assigned.

COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB:

Systems changes made by the Process Control Engineer will directly impact Manufacturing performance. They can directly impact operability of the plant - which can affect output, cost, and employee morale. Changes made by this person can often require coordination with global Avient Protective Materials Corporate resources.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

MS in related technical field (Engineering or other physical science) with 3 years industry related experience; or BS/BA in related technical field with 5 years industry related experience; or AA/AS degree in related technical field with 6 years industry related experience.

REQUIRED LEVEL OF EXPERIENCES:

Knowledge of Siemens DCS. Diversified knowledge of automation systems - support aspect. Diversified knowledge of multiple engineering specialties - including mechanical, chemical, electrical and civil. Knowledge and experience of Siemens PCS7, Step 7, WinCC Server, TIA Portal. Experience with several programming languages to include ladder, functional block, structured text, and sequential function chart. Advanced knowledge and experience of trouble shooting PID Loops. Knowledge and experience of variable speed drives, low voltage control systems, and instrumentation. Diversified knowledge of Profibus, industrial networks, and safety instrumented systems IEC 61511/IEC 61508. Knowledge of Cyber Security of control systems IEC 62443. Experience managing projects in excess of $50k.

Experience working in ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 environments.

Must be willing to respond to all types of emergencies and spend overtime hours in monitoring scheduled work when required

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications to include Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; and Microsoft Access
