Bruker Nano, one of Bruker's four operating segments, provides customers in academic and governmental institutions, life science, materials, and applied industries with the tools to determine the characteristics of matter and visualize the structure of molecules. Divisions within BNANO include Bruker AXS, Bruker Nano Analytics, Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Canopy.

The Tribology, Stylus and Optical Metrology Software group is hiring for an experienced DVT Engineer to complement our development team in our San Jose office. In this position, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and testing our existing and new designs, as well as developing and improving our testing environment, that meet Bruker's strategic goals. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, as well as be a key member in product management, service, and support.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Design Validation testing of hardware and software for new or custom products.
  • Provide validation testing of new hardware for new products to verify that the new design meets all product requirements. Provide detailed feedback on any required areas of improvements.
  • Analyze data from validation tests to determine whether systems and processes meet required criteria and specifications.
  • Provide testing and feedback of the performance of new hardware and software to verify that the product meets all specifications.
  • Develop new and improve existing test procedures.
  • Participate in software regression testing.
  • Maintains databases for tracking test results. Previous experience with Jira and Confluence is a plus.
  • Work with the software team to provide validation testing of new software. Provide bug reports and feedback to the software team.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on hardware troubleshooting/upgrades.
  • Maintain and present status reports on scheduled projects.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

* Broad working experience performing optical and stylus surface metrology is an advantage.

* Proven theoretical understanding of physics and effective problem solving of complex system, software, and hardware issues.

* Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills, fluency in English.

* Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Works precisely and pays close attention to details.

* Self-motivated, strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Ability to work with a distributed team on a global scale.

* A good eye for detail.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical qualifications in Materials Science, Electrical, Physics or Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Masters or higher-level education is preferred.

* Relevant metrology experience and knowledge in interferometry is an advantage.

* Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel. Working knowledge and ability to test and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical analog.

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $99,000 and $164,000. You will have the ability progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
