Our Tampa office is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Transportation to join and help expand our transportation practice.

In this key leadership role, you will leverage your extensive expertise and industry connections to directly impact some of the region's most high-profile transportation projects. VHB Tampa has been at the forefront of technology-enabled transportation solutions that enhance mobility, safety, equity, and connectivity for coastal communities, with notable projects such as I-4 FRAME and Vision Zero Safety Action Plans. Additionally, Tampa's recent accolades include milestones in advancing sustainability with the Tampa Riverwalk, Water Street Tampa, Resilient Pinellas, City of Tampa Climate Action Plan, and trail systems promoting urban mobility, contributing to national recognition as a forward-thinking city.

As the Director of Transportation, you'll:

    Lead the charge in delivering complex transportation engineering and planning assignments for both public and private sector clients.
  • Cultivate and maintain deep industry relationships within the Greater Tampa area and the West Coast of Florida, leveraging these connections to generate new business opportunities.
  • Oversee the management of significant projects, from inception through successful completion, ensuring they are on budget, on schedule, and exceed client expectations.
  • Play a crucial role in developing the office's growth strategy, identifying new market opportunities, and driving the overall business development efforts.
  • Mentor and develop our talented team, fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's Degree preferred
  • 15+ years of Transportation Engineering / Planning experience
  • AICP or PE strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge in transportation engineering and planning, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
  • A well-established network within the transportation sector, particularly in the Gulf Coast region.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in developing and executing growth strategies.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Leadership qualities with a passion for mentoring and developing staff.
