We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer with the following qualifications:

Title: Quality Engineer

Position: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: St. Paul, MN (Willernie)

Manager: No

Reports to: Quality Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Quality Engineer shall be responsible for designing, implementing, and completing all program quality planning. Has the responsibility to make sure that every function and operation in a workplace happens with high quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Developing Quality plans that improve department efficiency & overall program efficiency
  • Developing Systems that improve department & company efficiency
  • Ability to produce very detailed plans of implementation
  • Ability to assist in training of plans developed
  • Improvement of overall Quality of all products produced
  • Meet scheduled hours and dates of all tasks
  • Promote an attitude of Continuous Improvement


Specific Responsibilities:



  • Complete all advanced quality planning for all tooling projects.

    • Point of contact for program management & external customers
    • Develop first article & Cpk inspection method plan
    • Develop process control inspection plan
    • Fixture design & development
    • Advanced programming of inspection equipment
    • Correlation study development & participation
    • Formulation of the testing procedures for quality inspections
    • Gauge R & R setup & participation
    • Assist in Process control dimension identification
    • Assist in developing steel safe plan
    • Assist in developing risk identification & mitigation
    • Assist in document creation


  • Quality plan handoff overview & training.
  • First review & disposition level for all First article & Cpk inspections

    • After disposition, determine path. Re-process or Re-inspect or Correct Tooling Design / Build.


  • Participate in Mold validation report out press side.
  • Develop plastic shrink & risk database for Project, Design, Analysis & Molding engineer use.

    • Planned vs. actual shrink
    • Characteristics
    • Venting
    • Warp
    • Handling


  • Program & operate all inspection equipment
  • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process & manufacturing related concerns
  • Assist with Quality System Procedure Development
  • Assist Quality manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Assist in developing training to build quality awareness.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience in the plastic, medical molding field.
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Good engineering aptitude, problem solving abilities.
  • Visionary and willingness to drive continuous improvement activities.
  • Have excellent analytical skills to observe the various aspects carefully.
  • Be an excellent communicator and should have excellent writing abilities as well.
  • Requires the ability to operate all inspection equipment, from hand gages to automated machines.
  • Must be able to interact with other managers and be willing to work in a group setting (key management team) to meet corporate objectives.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs infrequently.
