Purpose of the position: This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals considering a career in artistic administration or marketing after graduation. The position provides hands-on experience in both box office operations and marketing within a performing arts environment. It is ideal for those looking to gain valuable experience and insight into the workings of an arts organization, making it a great stepping stone for future careers in these fields.

Duties and responsibilities: Every team member will be fully trained to work in the box office, where they will handle ticketing functions and assist with event shifts. In addition to box office duties, the role includes a variety of marketing-related tasks, such as event promotion, digital content creation, and social media management. This dynamic blend of responsibilities offers a comprehensive view of the operations and marketing efforts within the organization.

Box Office and Event Support:

  • Be trained in the ticketing system "Arts People" and manage ticketing functions, including processing free seating passes, paid opera tickets, and handling inquiries via phone, internet, or in person.
  • Work event shifts, which involve providing information about concerts and events to patrons, batch printing tickets, and organizing will-call alphabetically.
  • Assist with general office duties such as data import, filing, and printing, ensuring smooth box office operations.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Assist in the creation of weekly e-newsletters, event eblasts, and other promotional materials.
  • Maintain and update event listings on cim.edu, Cleveland Arts & Culture, and other platforms.
  • Upload event programs and create visual content for event screens using Canva.
  • Schedule concerts and events for streaming to the organization's monitors.
  • Support the development of advertising campaigns for concert series and write copy for livestream descriptions.

Digital/Social Media Marketing:

  • Manage competition Facebook pages and fulfill photography requests from students and faculty.
  • Create and write content for social media platforms and blog posts.
  • Conduct research on the social and web presence of comparable institutions.
  • Maintain social media analytics and assist in developing photo and video assets.
  • Reach out to students, faculty, and alumni for social media spotlights and create live social media content as needed.

General Duties:

  • Contribute innovative ideas to enhance the department's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Attend monthly team meetings (in-person or via Teams).
  • Log time on campus as needed and assist with additional tasks when necessary.

Rate of pay: $12.00/hr

Qualifications:

  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills and effective communication, both spoken and written.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software and systems.
  • Experience in handling money and working in a box office environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Able to work select evenings and weekends, fulfilling the minimum event shift requirement.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and interested in public relations, social media, marketing, and communications.
  • Previous experience in marketing, digital media, or related fields is a plus but not essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong grammar, spelling, and writing skills.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to receive and apply constructive feedback.

Work Requirements:

  • Access to a computer and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Length of employment: 8/26/24 to 5/8/25, or the date a student has earned their full WS award, or is no longer enrolled full time, whichever comes first.

Evaluation procedures and schedules: We practice continuous open feedback and will meet as a work study team monthly to touch base.
