Purpose: Assist the Concerts & Events Office as directed

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setup/Tear down
  1. All CIM Orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, rep orchestra, concerts and run out concerts
  2. Brass/ Woodwind Orchestra Readings, Violin/Cello/Bass Orchestral Rep Class
  3. Any Orchestral Conducting Classes
  4. Kulas Pit for Opera Orchestra
  5. CIM Preparatory Division Ensembles (CWYS, Prep Orchestra, etc.)
  6. Any String/Woodwind/Brass Chamber Music when appropriate
  • Attend weekly meetings so that the weekly assignment schedules can be reviewed. Such meetings are viewed as a "service". Attendance required. No absences permitted.
  • Assist the stage manager during performances, as necessary, and be properly attired (nice stage black) when serving in this capacity.
  • Assist with general logistics for appropriate rehearsals and concerts, i.e., move piano, harpsichord, other instruments, equipment, etc.
  • Exercise all due diligence in meeting obligations. Inform Head of Orchestra Setup Crew in a timely manner, should you be unable to work due to illness or other such extenuating circumstance.
  • Seek permission to be absent from duties, should the need arise, (e.g., out-of-town audition, etc.).
  • In general, a community spirit shall be operative on the part of each member of the Orchestra Setup Crew. A willingness to help in a crisis, or step in to assist a colleague, for example, are paramount among the many positive values that are to be exhibited by Crew members.
  • No regular classes, lessons, coaching sessions, etc., are to be scheduled against "prime" weekly set up times. Occasional conflicts are unavoidable and will be allowed and factored as an excused absence, if notification is provided in advance (at least 24 hours).

Qualifications:

  • Attend any training session and mandatory meetings
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team
  • Must have decision making skills
  • Must be punctual, very reliable and assertive
  • Must be willing to dress properly for concert shifts
  • Must be prompt in reply to all communications with Supervisor
  • Must be able to do repetitive physical activity for each shift

Rate of Pay: $12.00/hr

Length of Employment: 8/26/24 to 5/8/25, or the date a student has earned their full WS award, or is no longer enrolled full time, whichever comes first.
