Job Description Summary
The Department of Geosciences at Auburn University invites applications for a new Postdoctoral Fellow position in Community Geography and Community Geographic Information Systems.
The Postdoctoral Fellow position is for an initial appointment of 1 year, with opportunity for renewal for additional years with successful annual reviews and continued funding support. The successful candidate will conduct collaborative and independent research in the areas of community geography and GIS and engage in community-based education and outreach activities. The successful candidate will co-lead the Citizen Science GIS lab's broader research and education efforts (e.g., community geography, GIS, UAV/drones, geoscience education, student mentoring, fieldwork, and outreach). The successful candidate will also play a leadership role in the development of Geo Explorer Labs, a fleet of mobile science labs on 35 feet Class A RVs that support K-12 students and educators in learning about geoscience technologies.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have completed their PhD at the time appointment begins in Geography, GIS, Geosciences, or a related field and have a demonstrated record of publications, presentations, and potential for grant funding. Candidates must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrate a willingness to engage in collaborative work across disciplines. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates who have an interdisciplinary research record with expertise in the use of community-based applications of geospatial technologies, GIS, and/or drones are desired.
