This posting is for a position within The Hershey Lean Center of Excellence group located in Hershey, PA. The goal of this internship/co-op position is to provide an opportunity for students to gain real world experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods and Food processing industry and to help students develop professionally in a progressive manner with an increasing amount of responsibility. This position will give you an excellent opportunity to gain real world experience while working alongside corporate support resources in addition to Line Centric Teams within our local manufacturing locations to meet the company goals pertaining to continuous improvement and Hershey Lean. This position is ideally suited for students who are interested in and capable of working for Summer of 2025 (May-August)

Responsibilities:

Typical Student assignments & responsibilities may include:

- Coaching operators/mechanics on executing standards

- Developing standards for executing tasks on the line

- Supporting Daily Management Systems (Equipment centerlines, Defect Handling Identification, and CIL Execution)

- Driving daily problem solving and data driven planning

- Driving process efficiency on a production line

- Working with and/or leading multidisciplinary teams including personnel from manufacturing, maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering

- Designing, troubleshooting and optimizing manufacturing processes and products

Education

Must be an undergraduate student majoring in engineering or supply chain at the sophomore level or higher.

- Ability to apply understanding of sciences (biology, chemistry, food technology, engineering) and mathematics to provide technical support to the business

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work both independently and in multidisciplinary groups/teams with a high level of motivation

- Good organizational and interpersonal skills along with creativity, flexibility, and initiative

- A desire to work hands-on in plant with equipment and products.

- Proficiency with common Windows based computer software programs, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

- Experience or familiarity with SAP is preferred

Requirements

- Eligibility to work in the United States for any employer

- A valid Drivers' License and a means of reliable transportation

- Willingness and ability to travel to and work in manufacturing facilities located in PA (Hershey, Lancaster, and Hazleton).

- Availability to work on a flexible schedule from time to time including off-shift
