Sr. Technical Program Manager (Automation Project Engineer)

Advantest Test Solutions, Inc. (ATS) is looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager /Project Engineer with focus on semiconductor device handling, gantry/robotics systems design expertise and mecha-thermal test system development expertise. This individual will be the overall project owner supervising internal teams and external partners to develop and implement mechanical / thermal handling solutions for large semiconductor devices and modules and working with the electrical, software and program management teams to design, develop and test complex electronic test systems for the semiconductor and module market. This is a senior engineering management position that requires engineering knowledge, mentoring and debug skills as well as limited domestic and international travel to support customers and installation.

As the field of AI/server computing continues to grow, the mechatronics device handling systems needed to handle complex semiconductor devices for final test, system level test and burn in applications is increasingly growing. Advantest has been providing cutting edge solutions in these areas for several years and is looking to expand its product portfolio and offerings in this field and is hiring a team to expand its product offerings in this field.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Will run complex technical mechanical automation (robotics and / or gantry) projects with a primary focus on mechanical and thermal engineering for semiconductor test equipment.
  • Supervise, mentor and manage internal and external teams to develop and implement complex test solutions.
  • Develop engineering plans, project budgets and drive on schedule project execution.
  • Work with engineering management in other disciplines including electrical engineering, software engineering, program management and business development to drive cross functional projects including estimation of device handling throughput (Units per hour), release of software features for the mechanical solution among others.
  • Will be involved in new product concepts, innovative product solutions and architecture, eliciting customer requirements and resolving deployment and field failures.
  • Lead development of test fixtures, reliability plans for electro-mechanical components.
  • Travel to customer sites on a need basis for new product concepts in coordination with business team or to offshore locations for implementing test solutions.
  • Responsible for doc control activities including version/revision control, ECN/redline implementation.
  • Co-ordinate project execution and supervise subcontractor engineering activities, decide on insourcing or outsourcing specific aspects of new projects and drive project execution.
