Programmer Analyst

We are seeking aProgrammer Analystwho will participate in the development of solutions using programming/ analytical expertise for day-to-day problems to include maintenance, modification or development of applications/ solutions. Ability to handle multiple priorities from different customers across JHU, JHHS and JHHC.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Applies analysis techniques and procedures to gather and then translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications and designs.
  • Maintain databases and system code.
  • Installation and modification of package programs.
  • Participate in business / technical planning.
  • Applies system analysis techniques and procedures to gather and then translate business requirements into high level functional/technical specifications and designs.
  • Maintain databases, system code and/or installation and modification of package programs.
  • Participate in the development of solutions using programming/analytical expertise for day-to-day problems to include maintenance, modification or development of applications/solutions.
  • Manage follow-up and claims issues.
  • Develops solutions requiring analysis and research.
  • Responsible for critical work and/or complex projects performed within a broader technical and business context.
  • Participates in training programs jointly developed with their managers to gain technical, soft and business skills.
  • Participate in a portion of the life cycle. May be responsible for the complete life cycle for very small projects.
  • Responsible for unit testing on own code.
  • Once priorities are set, perform tasks independently with regular progress updates.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and compliance of HIPAA rules and regulations in the dissemination of patient Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Utilize online resources including IDX to facilitate efficient claims processing.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of medical billing and the unique customer service requirements as related to patients, physicians and administrative staff in a high-volume medical services environment.
  • Participate in on-going educational activities.
  • Assist in the training of staff.
  • Complete three days of training annually.
  • Provide limited technical support and training to functional users.

Special, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Able to operate basic office equipment, e.g. photo copier, fax machine, scanner, PC, telephone, etc.
  • Keep current of industry changes by reading assigned material on work related topics.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to work well under pressure.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • One-year related experience.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: ($53,800 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
