- Demonstrates basic knowledge of diagnosis / conditions seen in the profession of athletic training
- Selects, performs and interprets the results of ATC examinations of neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems
-Accurately performs and interprets standardized assessments as determined by appropriateness of athlete
- Identifies actual or potential problems that would impact the ATC treatment regimen as well as the overall interdisciplinary plan of care (such as cognitive deficits, family situation, etc.)
- Establishes specific treatment goals based on the results of the initial assessment
- Designs the treatment plan appropriate for the athlete's age, educational level, cultural background
- Designs the plan for intervention that is coordinated and integrated with other services the athlete is receiving (such as MD visits, MRI, etc.)
- Revises the treatment plan as appropriateImplements and manages a specific and comprehensive treatment plan - 15%
- Demonstrates good working knowledge of various athletic training techniques, flexibility and creativity in the implementation of these athletic training techniques
- Interacts regularly with others involved in the athlete's care to incorporate an interdisciplinary treatment approach for coordinated quality care
- Demonstrates awareness and use of proper safety measures regarding the athletes, others in the athletic training room and himself/herself
-Maintains and organizes all safety equipment as directed.
- Reassesses athlete's status in response to treatment and goals achievement, redefines problems and modifies goals and treatment as indicated by the treatment plan
- Provides information regarding follow-up services which may include a referral to other Prisma Health/community resources (such as MD, MRI, etc.)
- Provides any written instruction for home exercises or care as indicated
- Teaches, counsels and communicates with athletes, their families, coaches and others to achieve the desired outcomes
- Interacts with athletes, coaches, families and colleagues to enlist their informed cooperation in establishing programs to insure the safe return to play of that athlete
- Supports and provides educational material to athletes, coaches, parents, community at large on injury management and prevention

- Monthly report of all student/community athletes / staff sent to Team Physician as designated by Clinic MD, follow-up services ordered and where the service was performed
- Monthly report on services provided at the high school
- Documents all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment and discharge in the treatment log in a timely manner
- Daily treatment records are noted in the daily log and are clear and professional in their terminology

- Calls MD, MD medical assistants, parents, coaches, coordinator of Sports Medicine, Radiology to ensure ambulatory services are performed through Prisma Health as much as possible (such as MRI, CT scan, surgeries admission, etc.)
Assists with additional coverage when schedule permits. Does follow-up calls with parents regarding athlete's treatment and recovery.
- Shadows a Sports Medicine MD and his medical assistant at least 8 hours per week in summer. (Log of hours presented to coordinator at monthly staff meetings)
- Volunteer for community events as identified by Prisma Health Community Relations/Marketing and Coordinator of Sports Medicine/Athletic Training Services. (Log of events participated in presented at annual review. If not presented then, no credit on the events will be given.)
- Presenter at local / state / regional level on Athletic Training Topics. Coordinates a local / state / regional program on Athletic Training Topics
- Participates in sessions with Mobile Care or Emergency Services for coordination of care of injured athlete
- Coordinates / arranges sessions with Mobile Care or other local EMT / Emergency Services for coordination of care of injured athleteProvides supervision to Student Athletic Trainers and/or Intern Athletic Trainers - 5%
- Exercises sound judgment in delegating tasks to Student Athletic Trainers and/or Intern Athletic Trainers
- Provides feedback on performance in a professional, tactful and beneficial manner
- Completes an orientation to the high school facilities for the student/intern
- Coordinates with appropriate people for an effective learning experienceHospital, Department and Team Responsibilities - 5%
- Works with community relations and Marketing Department of Prisma Health
- Attends staff meetings and mandatory meetings as scheduled
- Completes mandatory computer based training annually and in a timely manner
- Completes PPD testing procedures by the end of the employee's birth month
- Completes assignments in a timely and thorough manner
- Assists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, safety standards, environmental and infection control standards
- Completes projects in a reasonably established amount of time
- Coordinates with other school personnel and parents / guardians to get HIPAA Consent and Consent to Treat signed and back in a timely manner- Functions as a mentor and consultant for new staff members - 5%
- Works in a coordinated fashion with the clinic team physician to implement all protocols. - 5%
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities - This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
