Position Summary:

The Copy Manager is responsible for leading and shaping the voice, tone, and messaging of the brand across all channels. The Copy Manager ensures that all copywriting aligns with the brand's identity, engages customers, drives sales, and fosters brand loyalty. They are also responsible for overseeing the development and execution of copy strategies that support both marketing and wholesale initiatives, ensuring consistency and excellence in all written content.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)



  • Develop and Implement Copy Strategies: Collaborate with the Director of Creative Marketing, marketing, creative, and cross-functional teams to develop and execute copy strategies for multi-channel marketing assets, including website copy, email campaigns, advertising, social media, and retail/wholesale content.
  • Ensure Consistent Brand Voice: Work closely with Director of Creative Marketing to ensure a consistent and compelling brand voice across all touchpoints.
  • Collaborate on Product Launches: Partner with product managers and the E-commerce team to oversee the development and proofreading of product descriptions for every product launch, ensuring accuracy and alignment with brand messaging.
  • Review and Approve Creative Asset Requests: Fulfill and approve Creative Asset Requests from various cross-functional departments throughout the organization, ensuring copy meets brand and project goals.
  • Proofread and Edit Content: Ensure all copy produced by the team is clear, accurate, and free of errors, maintaining high standards for grammar and style.
  • Conduct Market Research: Stay informed about target audiences and market trends to keep copy and creative narratives relevant and engaging.
  • Manage Multiple Projects: Oversee the management of multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Report on Copy Effectiveness: Analyze and report on the effectiveness of copy in achieving marketing goals, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Lead and Manage Copywriting Team: Oversee and develop the copywriting team (proofreaders, freelance copywriters, social content writers, etc.), ensuring that all content produced aligns with brand standards and creative narratives.
  • Copy Process & Documentation: Ensure copy process and standards are documented and maintained.



Supervisory Responsibilities:




  • Direct Reports: This position manages any freelance proofer or copywriter and may have additional supervisory responsibilities as the team grows.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree: Preferred in English, journalism, advertising, or communications, or equivalent direct industry experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a copywriting or content strategy role, with 2+ years in a managerial or leadership position.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Leadership and Mentorship: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of copywriters.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong creative and critical thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective copy strategies.
  • Outstanding Writing Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills are a must.
  • Brand Voice Consistency: Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice across all channels.
  • SEO Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEO principles and the ability to create SEO-friendly content.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, particularly in cross-functional settings.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and report on the effectiveness of copy and make data-driven decisions.

Software:



  • Software Proficiency: Experience with One Drive, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Monday.com, Brandfolder, Figma, Sharepoint, and other relevant tools.



Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Physical Activity: Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • Exertion: Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Attention to Detail: Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing, analyzing, and interpreting data and figures, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.



Environmental Conditions:



  • Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
