Job Summary

Under the direction of the Nursing and Nutrition Manager at Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS), this position provides full range of support to the nursing department including but not limited to direct patient care, advice/triage, assisting with orientation of new staff, updating policies/procedures, and streamlining RN workflows. Under the direction of the Nursing and Nutrition Manager, this positions functions in a lead capacity to provide support to the RNs in both PC and AC. This position provides team leadership in the absence of the Nursing manager and actively participates in problem solving and actively participates in problem solving and conflict resolution to maintain team cohesiveness and positive patient relations. In addition, serves as liaison to the SHCS public Health Branch to mitigate risk and infection control concerns at SHCS and the UC Davis community.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Registered Nursing license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience in Urgent Care or Emergency Department setting.
  • Experience in Advice/Triage.
  • Experience working with a diverse staff using interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility.
  • Experience with electronic practice management system and electronic health medical records.
  • Skills to work independently and make clinical decisions within the scope of nursing practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification.
  • Experience working with adolescent, young adult or college health population.

Key Responsibilities

  • 60% - DIRECT PATIENT CARE AND ADVICE TRIAGE
  • 30% - LEAD RN
  • 10% - INFECTION CONTROL RESPONSIBILITIES

Work Environment

  • Position subject to credentialing process at Student Health and Counseling Services.
  • This position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services. Pre-placement screening will consist infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
  • Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infection diseases are present.
  • Position requires signing a statement acknowledging requirement to report child abuse (CANRA) and requirement to report suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders.
  • May work overtime, when needed.
  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
