Automation Technician
We are currently looking for a Automation Mechanic to join our team in Dayton, NJ. This position is a mid-shift role with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 10:30am to 6:50pm. Automation is to provide support for a wide range of projects as they progress from concept to installation. The projects vary greatly and consist of custom electromechanical equipment, control panels, PLC's, automation software, and automated robots. A minimum of five years' experience in a manufacturing or laboratory/education environment is required. Automation Mechanics must have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to react to issues and emergencies. The person in this position should also be comfortable inspecting the work of the contractors and working with engineers and other mechanics. You Will Spend Your Time...
- Conducting scheduled facility preventative Maintenance tasks, unscheduled and scheduled repairs, and project support.
- Examining and evaluating mechanical/electrical equipment and systems to detect malfunctions and execute repairs for the same.
- Processing documentation, including work order completion and parts identification for reordering.
- Identifying replacement parts and communicate needs to the Supervisor.
- Performing post-repair tests and documents results.
- Reacting to emergency situations and involving the Supervisor when appropriate.
- Participating in recurring training and safety meetings
- installation of conduit and wire, tubing, sensors, etc.
- Wire a variety of electric motors.
- Perform calibrations on various instrumentation such as pressure sensors, load cells, flow meters, etc.
- Work safely with a variety of voltages such as 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, single phase and 3-phase.
- Interpret electrical drawings and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products.
- Experience with Cimplicity, Batch Metrics, Server knowledge, and other automated programs a plus.
- Configure controls components.
Required Skills.
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and handle unexpected situations.
- PLC programming
- Ladder logic programming
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to stand for 8 hours per day.
Required Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Automation Mechanic in a manufacturing production plant.
- Trained in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, and lift truck operations.
- Electrical License preferred or willing to obtain one.
- Willingness to maintain and obtain additional licensure and certifications as needed.
- Possess electrical aptitude and willingness to perform hands on work.
