UC Riverside's Facilities Services is recruiting for a High Voltage Electrician. The High Voltage Electrician performs full journey-level work related to the repair, maintenance, service, installation, modification, troubleshooting, inspection, and monitoring of a variety of medium and high voltage (>600V - 12.47KV) electrical distribution systems and associated industrial electrical equipment. Performs planned and emergency maintenance on a variety of medium and low voltage systems, including overhead and underground distribution systems, throughout the campus community and satellite substation. Maintains industrial electrical equipment of various voltages up to and including 12,470 volts (12.47KV); performs troubleshooting, as needed, on equipment such as generators, transformers, Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) switchgear, breakers, batteries, DC systems, and Motor Control Centers (MCC) to identify and resolve electrical equipment problems. Maintains clear and accurate documentation of all inspections, testing and maintenance (corrective and/or preventative) performed. Updates equipment documentation, specifications and drawings, as needed. Reviews and updates all shop logs, both paper and electronic according to updates and changes. Responds to emergency situations to mitigate and/or resolve immediate electrical concerns or safety issues. Reviews and creates blueprints/drawings, and specifications for new construction and retrofit/renovation projects according to building code requirements. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purposes of resolving immediate safety concerns. Performs all job duties in adherence with University and departmental safety guidelines. Maintains a positive attitude and communicates effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty and students.
The full salary range for the High Voltage Electrician is $50.31 - $56.65 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.
