Job Description: Business Development Representative
FLSA: Exempt
Primary Work Location: Remote
The Business Development Representative (BDR) will play a critical role within the organization to ensure strategic and profitable growth in existing and new markets in Government Contracting. The BDR's primary responsibility is building relationships, developing partnerships, and conducting research to gain revenue and market share by closing opportunities for long-term profitability.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Develop strategic business plans to facilitate profitable business growth in alignment with the company's established revenue goals.
- Responsible for prospecting, initiating, and generating leads to closure while tracking effectiveness and engagement.
- Accepts ownership of strategic revenue goal and individual growth number.
- Prioritizes frequent face-to-face meetings with new and existing customers to increase sales of the organization's products and services.
- Develops negotiating strategies by examining potential partnerships and opportunities.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating the requirements, developing & negotiating contracts, and integrating contract requirements with program managers.
- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on products, pricing, delivery schedules, marketing techniques, etc.
- Keeps leadership informed by submitting activity and results reports, weekly meetings, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- 5+ years of proven sales experience in the Federal Government Market
- Prior experience in IT services or product sales
- Bachelors in business or relevant field (additional experience can be substituted for degree)
- Intrinsic motivation is necessary to be successful in this role (Think unlimited income potential)
- Up to 50% travel
- Has a proven process and track record for building sales pipelines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Sales CRM (Salesforce preferred)
- Highly effective communication and presentation skills
- Ability to build credibility and trust
- Competence in influencing buying behavior
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards (Work could be in various environments including but not limited to Hotels, Conferences, and Meetings)
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally and walk short distances
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicle.
- Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and fingers
- Have close visual acuity to perform tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer monitor, and extensive reading.
