Job Overview

The multi-disciplinary Product Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of product design, applications engineering, and product development within the Design Engineering group for Instrument Transformers at Meramec. Our primary customers are OEM manufacturers of MV and HV switchgear, circuit breakers and transformers used in the North American utility (T&D) industry.

A Day In The Life

  • The primary product focus is Instrument Transformers for the MV and HV Utility Market.
  • SME for Instrument Transformer Design and Applications.
  • Reviewing customer specifications and requirements to evaluate design requirements
  • Active involvement in multiple IEEE/IEC/CIGRE Technical Committees
  • Leading efforts for new product ideation and development.
  • Leading design engineering projects and mentoring less experienced engineers
  • Performing or overseeing mechanical, environmental, and electrical simulation
  • Providing technical assistance to Applications, Process, and Quality Engineering
  • Travel requirements involving off-site testing of products, marketing support, field review of product applications or training activities. Travel 20% max.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 7+ Years Instrument Transformer Engineering Experience.
  • Experience with Routine and Type Testing of Instrument Transformers.
  • 7+ Years in Product Design in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Knowledge and/or Experience With Sensor Based Voltage and Current Measuring Technologies.
  • Experience with Utility Electronic Data Communications Standards and Protocols.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering would be a plus.
  • Solidworks and/or Autodesk Inventor Experience.
  • Simulation software experience - Ansys, Comsol, Simulia or other.
  • Ability to travel on business related trips.
