Description
In this role, you will function as a Database engineer, with the mindset of securing and backing up all databases on a regular cadence. You will also work closely with our business partners and collaborate with other team members on monthly financial report releases and work closely with other groups to collaborate on existing or new server configurations. In addition, the Database Engineer will:
- be responsible for installation, configuration, database design, pipeline building, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, security and recovery among other tasks
- monitor daily ETLs as well as developing new and enhancing existing ETL packages
- apply the expertise required, to build data pipelines with process in place to ensure data quality and conform to the best industry practice of data governance
- maintain all VM servers as well as MS SQL Servers on premises, and MS Azure admin tasks
- provide general technical support in the areas of database engineering, logical and physical data model design
- be expected to work on, maintain, and manage multiple projects simultaneously over an extended period of time, collaborate with developers and appropriately prioritizing tasks and regularly showing progress
- will backfill ETL developers and DBAs as needed. They should feel very comfortable covering the duties for ETL Developers and/or Database Administrators.
Our ideal candidate will have at least five years experience in MS SQL Server 2016 or higher, be an experienced database administrator, have experience in ETL development and ability to program in MS TSQL as well as meet the requirements listed in the qualifications section.
This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site at least twice a week or as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.
Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $92,600 - $202,200 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and $125,000.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a B.S. in Computer Science or 5 years' experience in database management.
- Detailed experience with using RDBMS (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, PostGres) systems.
- Experience workings as a database administrator
- Mid-level experience in ETL development. Ability to modify existing ETL packages in MSSQL.
- Expert level ability to program in SQL (such as PL/SQL, TSQL )
- Experience with standard ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, ODI.
- Experience and knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g. .Net, VB, VBA, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell).
- Understanding the full Business Intelligence development lifecycle.
- Including an understanding of Business Intelligence tool functionality (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS); ability to install and manage BI software systems; experience architecting BI software suites.
- Experience working with data used in Healthcare, Medical Education, or Finance
- Experience with Big Data and cloud hosted environment (AZURE, AWS)
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Experience with Window and/or Linux server management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows Desktop OS.
