Description |
The Staff Accountant performs various tasks to ensure daily accounting activities are in compliance with GAAP and will be responsible for the documentation, compliance and monitoring of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. This position will also interact with other corporate departments and assist them in their tracking and planning of costs. The Staff accountant provides financial information to management through research and analysis of accounting data and prepares reports accordingly. |

Responsibilities
Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Prepare of monthly journal entries
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations monthly and investigate variances
- Review SGA expenses compared to budget
- Responsible for updating static data in SAP for actuals and planning purposes
- Prepares and analyzes working capital accounts and makes accounting entries as appropriate
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends as necessary
- Communicates with external auditors and assist in audit preparation as required
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing projects as needed
- Maintains accounting controls by documenting policies and procedures.
- Prepare sales & use and property tax returns timely and submit payments
- Report on payroll and headcount data
- Assist with projects in AR and AP
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly

Qualifications/Desired Skills
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required
- CPA preferred
Experience:
- 1-3 years of professional experience in an accounting and finance environment required
- Manufacturing or chemical industry experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and execute basic accounting functions and identify process improvements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
- Displayed high levels of flexibility and adaptability
- Displayed bias for action and ability to complete projects
- Experience with SAP and Microsoft office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc,
- Ability to work within a multi-functional, global organizational structure and exhibits robust interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities which allow assessments of situations and opportunities
