Develops overall direction, strategy, objectives, and policies to support profitability and growth for the Wealth Planning line of business. The Director of Wealth Planning is responsible for leading the Wealth Planning Business Development team that supports our client advisers by integrating goal-based wealth planning into our sales and service delivery. Will effectively collaborate and execute high-level strategic partnerships with all lines of business. The focus is to increase the close rate of new, complex prospects along with deepening relationships with existing clients using a fiduciary approach. Recognize and apply complex planning concepts including insurance solutions, wealth transfer planning, gift tax planning, business continuation strategies, succession planning, and executive compensation. Success will be based on planning colleagues' development and the overall achievement of market based sales results related to the capture of financial planning assets.

Job Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and management in the development, communications, and execution of strategic Wealth Planning initiatives.
  • Analyze and propose new products, sales approaches, and procedures to reach strategic initiatives and build overall asset growth for the Personal Trust line of business.
  • Acting in a business development manager capacity, responsible for the overall achievement of market-based sales results related to the capture of wealth planning assets measured in AUM and revenue targets. Manages wealth planning colleagues directly, establishing performance goals, allocating resources, mentoring and leading the Wealth Planning team to achieve sales and service goals. Display leadership competencies by generating a vision, establishing direction, and motivating the business line to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Increase the close rate of new, complex prospects for wealth planning along with deepening relationships with existing clients. Initiate external and internal contacts for the development and funding of new business. Maintain relationships within Private Wealth (PW) and other business lines to perform joint calling activities and share prospect and customer opportunities. Demonstrate and apply a working knowledge of related bank services and solutions, with the ability to effectively profile clients for the identification of cross-selling opportunities and referrals.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships within Private Wealth (PW) and with Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking, Community Markets, and other business lines to perform joint calling activities and share prospect and customer opportunities. Demonstrate and apply a working knowledge of related bank services and solutions, with the ability to effectively profile to identify cross-selling opportunities and refer customers.
  • Provide support, direction, and delivery of training to the market-based planners that assists PW colleagues in identifying opportunities to leverage the goal-based wealth planning. The goal is to increase deep and cross sell opportunities using enterprise-wide products and services that assist our clients in achieving their goals based wealth planning objectives. Develop and maintain a list of complex goal based planning issues and provide recommended concepts and solutions to resolve them. Items would include executive compensation, life insurance, disability income, business succession planning, stock option strategies, and long term care coverages.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining polices, procedures and market-based business plans that support goal-based financial planning throughout the Private Wealth (PW) enterprise. Provide direction and support to Personal Trust, Retirement Plan Services (RPS), Private Banking, and Investment professionals to assist in building stronger client relationships utilizing and integrating wealth planning strategies.
  • Develop and maintain user guides that ensure and support best practices are being used throughout the goal-based wealth planning process, including but not limited to: return assumptions, asset allocation models, and disclaimer notifications. Work with software systems to ensure best practices are being trained and used enterprise-wide.
  • Serve as the enterprise-wide subject matter expert with regards to goal-based wealth planning. Maintain awareness of latest legislative rules and regulations. Expected to coordinate with clients and prospects through other advisors such as attorneys and accountants to link products selected into various legal documents (i.e., ILITs) and fully consider tax implications of strategies.
  • Attend on a continuing basis sales training seminars and product knowledge workshops. Stay current and update individual knowledge of insurance, finance and human resources by reading industry periodicals. Maintain a solid understanding of all PW products and services and use that knowledge to assist colleagues in understanding opportunities to assist clients and prospects achieve their goals.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Business or Finance Required

Experience: 8-10 years Wealth/Financial planning experience. Expert understanding of advanced financial planning concepts. Experience with wealth/financial planning software. Broad knowledge of investment, insurance products. Experience in consultative sales. Strong awareness of tax planning issues. Required
4-6 years Experience leading a team focuses on financial sales or wealth planning. Required

Licenses and Certifications:
CFP-Certified Financial Planner by start date Required
CPA - Certified Public Accountant by start date Preferred
Life, Accident and Health and Variable Insurance License within 1 year Required
Series 7-Stockbroker Exam by start date Preferred
Other Series 66 by start date Preferred
