Graduate Admissions Counselor

The Graduate Admissions Counselor reports to the Director of Graduate Enrollment and Corporate Engagement and will assist the office in all aspects of graduate enrollment based on stated policies, procedures, and goals of the university. This is a full-time position; some evenings and weekends are required.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the development, implementation and coordination of a strategic marketing and recruitment plan for graduate enrollment.
  • Assist in developing recruitment strategies utilizing social networking, multimedia, and other technologies related to graduate student recruitment and retention.
  • Assist in coordination of on-campus/off-campus recruiting activities for all graduate programs.
  • Travel to various recruiting events, admissions and community based events to market graduate programs to prospective students.
  • Facilitate correspondence between prospective students, the faculty, and staff.
  • Assist with coordination of campus visits and tours; oversee visit logistics for prospective students.
  • Interview prospective students; provide admissions and program information.
  • Assist Canadian and other international students with the admission process.
  • Assist with evaluation of applications and transcripts in order to recommend admission decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's in degree Education is required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management in a post-secondary setting, sales or marketing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple work assignments and projects is required.
  • Excellent writing skills and attentiveness to detail are required.
  • Outstanding oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate Canisius University's mission and programs with sincerity and enthusiasm are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management is required.
  • Ability to travel and work evening hours.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a positive driving record per the university's insurance provider (or upon moving to NYS obtain a NYS driver's license within NYS DMV residency guidelines after hire).

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $58,458.40 annually

Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay will be based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including experience. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.

This is a full-time, salaried position. Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time employee's date of hire and include - health, dental and vision insurance, life and long term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees with contribution from the University after one year. Paid holidays, vacation, personal leave and sick leave. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.
