Job Overview

Conducts psychiatric assessment for patients as necessary/requested. Triages patients to other clinical services based on assessment. Utilizes the psychiatric administrator on-call and the on-call psychiatrist for clinical support and recommendations and involves psychiatrist in psychiatrically and/or medically complicated cases.

Location: Melrose/Wakefield Hospital - 585 Lebanon Street - Melrose, MA

Hours: Week days only - Per Diem - Must work at least 2 shifts per month

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master of SW and LICSW required. Master of Psychology and LMHC will be considered.

2. Minimum of 2 years of experience post-advanced licensure in crisis intervention, psychiatric assessment and evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Demonstrates clinically sound and appropriate recommendations and disposition plans.

2. Assists others in assuming assignments.

3. Responds in a timely fashion to requests/pages from ED.

4. Responds in a helpful and constructive manner to requests from the ER/Medical Floors.

5. Ensures necessary insurance authorizations are in place prior to service delivery or transfer to another level of care.

6. Documents assessments and outcome/recommendations at time of service delivery.

7. Maintains log of contacts, tracks and collects data on services provided.

8. Is knowledgeable and seeks out information about available community resources.

9. Provides education, support and direction to medical staff to improve/facilitate care of behavioral health patients.
